Host Families
Requirements
Teen artists are provided home hospitality by Jewish families in Orange County. Families will be asked to host a minimum of two, and a maximum of three teen artists, providing them with a safe and comfortable place to stay during JCC Maccabi ArtsFest®.
Daily Responsibilities
Host families play an important role in ensuring a successful experience for the teen artists visiting Orange County for JCC Maccabi ArtsFest®. Host families are responsible for dropping off and picking up their guests in the morning and evening, following the evening activity—as well as Sunday evening for a welcome party. Transportation during the program hours of the JCC Maccabi ArtsFest® is provided by the Merage JCC of Orange County.
The daily schedule is as follows:
Sunday- Pick up teen artists from the JCC upon arrival. Feed artists and return them to the JCC for the Sunday night opening performance. Host families will not be allowed into the opening performance but are welcome to join us for the Host Family Meet and Greet.
Monday- Drop artists at the JCC by 8am for morning warm-ups and days activities. Monday night is the only night that host families are asked to entertain the teen artists. Artists are to be picked up for Host Family Night by 5pm. In 2007 when OC hosted the JCC Maccabi Games, most host families took their athletes to the beach for a bonfire so they can experience Orange County at its best.
Tuesday- Drop artists at the JCC by 8am for morning warm-ups and days activities. Artists will then need to be picked up at 9:30pm from the evening activity. The location of the evening activity is still to be determined but will be within 15 minutes of the JCC.
Wednesday- Drop artists at the JCC by 8am for morning warm-ups and days activities. Artists will then need to be picked up at 9:30pm from the evening activity. The location of the evening activity is still to be determined but will be within 15 minutes of the JCC.
Thursday- Drop artists at the JCC by 8am for morning warm-ups and days activities. At 7pm, all host families are invited to join other members of the community to enjoy the closing performances of the teen artists. It is there that they will showcase there work.
Friday- Drop artists at the JCC so they can meet up with their delegation head and travel back to their local community. TBD by delegation head at a later date.
